Customer Background
The company is a well-known Southeast Asian marine and subsea engineering technology supplier headquartered in Singapore. Bringing together a team of experienced oilfield professionals, it primarily provides comprehensive drilling and production solutions, subsea solutions, scientific solutions, and refurbishment & testing services, where used in deepwater oil and gas field development, subsea mineral resource extraction, and marine engineering.
Customer Requirements
The project requires the customized design and integration of a subsea bend restrictor along with a matching terminal adapter interface and a pulling assembly, as implemented on the client's subsea terminal structure (as shown in the application overview above).

The specifications demand a 90.6 mm outer diameter (OD) umbilical with the bend restrictor overall length (OAL) strictly controlled to within 2 meters, supported by a strop pulling assembly rated for a 3-tonne safe working load (SWL). Engineered for a 60-meter design water depth and a 15-year design life, the system withstands sea temperatures from 10°C to 23°C and air temperatures from 0°C to 30°C. For seamless interface and integration, the design accommodates the subsea terminal flange connection—supporting either clamp ring or welded end options—with all internal voids filled with specified engineering-grade grease.

Our Solutions
Based on the provided drawing of the bend restrictor adapter, we custom-designed the bend restrictor to precisely match the adapter's dimensions and interface specifications, ensuring a seamless and secure fit. This tailored solution integrates smoothly with the 90.6 mm umbilical OD and strict length constraints (<2 m) for perfect anchorage to the subsea terminal flange. Our design fully accounts for harsh operational conditions—including a 60-meter water depth, 15-year design life, and broad operating temperatures—while providing robust anti-corrosion, fatigue resistance, and specified grease filling for internal voids (such as Shell Rhodina). Additionally, we co-designed a 3-tonne SWL strop pulling assembly to guarantee safe and efficient subsea installation.
Our Technical Solution & Advantages
Philson delivers a comprehensive engineering design proposal for the bend restrictor and adapter that meticulously balances structural strength, spatial limitations, and subsea connection stability. By aligning custom manufacturing parameters with the client's precise operational criteria, our technical solution ensures full compliance with high-standard offshore delivery and long-term reliability requirements.
